VS MONSTERS
Having stocked well over 1000 venues in the last 20 years many of our fish have grown huge. Below is a selection of VS Fisheries carp that have gone on to become MONSTERS. In many cases breaking anglers personal bests and also smashing lake and complex records.
Moon Scale - Kent Club Lake - 63lbs +
This male Harrow bloodline mirror was stocked into the Kent gravel pit back in 2013 as a 12lb 4 summer (C4) fish and was one of a batch of 125 fish. These joined an earlier batch of 420 three and four summer fish that were stocked in late 2011.
Since stocking the fish have all thrived and there are now at least 25 over 40lbs with Moon Scale being the king of the lake at 63lbs.
In late 2019 Moon Scale was caught at over 40lbs for the first time weighing 42lbs 8oz. Just three years later it set a new club record by breaking the 50lb barrier for the first time in 2022. With a couple of captures around 58-59 lbs he finally broke the 60lb barrier when Luke Anderson caught him at 63lb 6oz in October 2024. Will this one be a British record we wonder?
Black Spot - Wharf Pool Syndicate - 56+
Quite a story behind this Harrow male in that we had selected it as part of our future brood stock and it was placed in a spawning pond with some other hand selected fish to see if they would spawn naturally allowing us to harvest the fry. The fish were left in there for a number of years and just fed steadily.
The team at Wharf had asked us for a couple of larger fish and we said it would take a couple of years at least but little did we know we already had them! A couple of months later saw the brood pond drained and we were blown away to find that this one was 40lbs! After a call to a shocked Andy this one was stocked along with another upper 30 a few weeks later and its now threatening to be another VS 60+ male!
The Carving - Northwyke Syndicate - 52lb +
Now how about this for a huge scaley carp? The Carving was one of the first batch of fish that Karl the owner selected for the syndicate lake from us as a C6 of 20lbs 8oz. He obviously chose well as he also selected another fish a year later that has hit 50lbs too in the shape of Leia! Both the fish are from one of our first few Leney Sutton crosses and their pedigree is shining through!
Steve's Common - The Carp Syndicate - 55lb +
In 2017 we stocked the newly created third lake at The Carp Syndicate down in East Sussex This common was one of a handful of C6s stocked and weighed 20lb 10oz along with some C4s, many of which are now 40lbs plus.
Very quickly this one showed amazing growth rates and became the complexes first 50 in late 2023. Putting on 30lbs of growth in 6 years!
In 2025 the fish was caught at a top weight of 55lbs plus. We have a feeling this one could be the first VS 60 plus common in the next few years!
The Tank - Airfield Lakes - 53lbs+
Rich Wilby created Mustang lake back in 2010 and we stocked it with C4s and C5s later that year. The lake is currently home to over FORTY VS Fisheries 40lb carp and two over 50lbs including this one The Tank.
This creature is the current lake record and was one of the C5s stocked initially at around 16lbs however there are a few others that may well challenge The Tank in years to come.
Big Sutton - Monks Pit - 57lb +
The Sutton bloodline has certainly got its roots in carp fishing history and they continue to do so with fish like this one that resides in the famous Monks Pit.
Supplied as C3s of 4-7lbs the batch has produced a number of 45lbs fish with several going 50lbs and a handful well in to the upper 50 bracket including this chunky mirror. Long live the Suttons we say!
The Warrior - Blackthorn Lakes - 50lb +
We have stocked the lakes at Blackthorn pretty much exclusively since Charlie built them. Patience and trusting in young fish has certainly paid off now and the original lake has a phenomenal stock of VS fish currently lead by this one. No doubt there are one or two more that will join the Blackthorn 50s club in the next few years!
Leia - Northwycke Syndicate 50lb +
Leia is one of our Sutton Leney crosses and certainly shows that scaley fish can grow to be huge weights given the right genetics and a great home! Karl picked her in December 2015, weighing 25lb 8oz.
With a number of other very large VS carp coming through the ranks at Northwycke you may see a trend in their names and Princess Leia was the first of these! No doubt some of these will feature here very soon.
The Scarred Lin - Riverton Lakes 53lb +
When Carl took over the complex he started on the transformation of the Road Lake into one of the most sought after syndicate tickets in the South West. The Scarred Lin was one of the first fish we stocked as a C6 and tends to be very elusive only seeing the bank every couple of years. Currently its been 18 months since its last visit so this one could certainly surprise a few people when it next ends up in a lucky anglers net!
